Virtual Tours to World Famous Sites by Google World Wonder project


Gone are those days, when you have to be physically present at a place to enjoy its beauty. What are your plans this summer? Wondering among the Pompeii ruins or just stroll into the Kyoto Temples? Or you want to see another wonder? Well, you might find your dream shattered when you realize that visit such places can cost you a fortune. But, still there is a way to keep the dream intact. It is by the new World Wonder project by Google, anyone can have a virtual tours to those places.
Born in Calif, the Mountain View company has started to offer 132 heritage view sites from 18 countries in order to expand the "Google Art Initiative project". The service is currently offered in six different languages. It offers wide range of photographs as well as videos of those specific places.

The technology used in this World Wonder Project is mainly the Google Street View Technology. The service was unveiled in Madrid this Thursday. Google has also provided a solid reason for such a step. They said that through this platform, it will be possible to support the preservation of the historic places around the world. The reason being that the places will be exposed to attention of more audiences around the globe. UNESCO which is the cultural agency is also associated in the project. Although, currently there were 132 places in the World Wonder Project, future addition of more places has been proposed.
