New Microsoft Logo to be unveiled on Thursday

After almost 25 years, a new Microsoft logo is to be unveiled on Thursday. It has been since 1987 that Microsoft has not changed its logo. The last one was a solid bold and italicized logo that was unveiled in 1987. This time the new Microsoft logo is expected to be more colourful. It will be unveiled in Boston in a ceremony of opening the 23rd Microsoft store. Along with these the logo can also be seen in the Bellevue and Seattle Microsoft stores and the Microsoft webpage as well.
The latest Microsoft logo will sport a multicolored Windows symbol along with a text that is lighter in color and straight forward and which will read the brand name. General Manager Jeff Hansen of Brand Strategy said the new Microsoft logo to be the "signal the heritage but also signal the future — a newness and freshness." The new logo is expected to be seen in the newer products as it has been reported that Microsoft will be releasing latest phones and computers based on Windows platform.

A little more info that we were able to acquire from sources are that the font that will be used in the new Microsoft logo is Segoe, which is owned by Microsoft itself. Moreover like the last logo, the new one will also have the letters “f” and “t” touching each other. As usual the coloured Window symbol will be square in shape with its four standard colour. But it has also been reported that the it will not be found in the upcoming Windows 8 devices and logo of Windows 8 will be mono-colored. However, in later future or through updates the new Microsoft logo might be added to it.
